Welcome Back

We hope you have all had wonderful summers. We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year, but first we shall start it off right - over some celebratory drinks at Raleigh's on Telegraph (previously Manny's Tap Room; previously Raleigh's) Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30. So, come join us to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

Please extend this invitation to new members of your individual departments and encourage new medievalists to sign up for our mailing list using the link on the website.

Also, you may have begun to see announcements floating around for a conference at Berkeley in the spring. This is true: GMB is hosting a national conference, "Reading the Middle Ages," on March 25-27, with a keynote address by Rita Copeland. We've enclosed the CFP below for what promises to be an exceptional weekend.

We will discuss the event in more detail later, but for now please save the dates so that we can show a strong Berkeley medievalist presence. Also, please distribute the CFP widely among your own departments and to friends and colleagues at other universities.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 8th at Raleigh's!

Cheers,

Lauren, Ryan, and Ben

A dose of medieval . . .

One of King Edwin's advisers describes a sparrow flying through the hall.

Bede, Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum, II.13
